January Blues

  1. I no longer derive joy from studying. A year ago, nothing could cheer me up more than having a chemistry book on my lap. But that’s all changed now. This is probably due to the fact that graduation is closer than ever. In fact, I’m sure it is the culprit. I have this bad way of thinking that no matter what I do (study or not), I’d still graduate. This is folly, I know.
  2. I finished watching the first season of Heroes two weeks ago. The starting episodes were great, but the slow pacing of the events made the series somewhat dull. The finale wasn’t even good. Such a waste of good concept! Anyway, I’m still planning on watching the second season.
  3. I thought that the first episode of Game of Thrones was good.
  4. Thesis update? Well, last Friday I went to DOST to grind my sample (crab shell). I also borrowed 15 volumetric flasks for my thesis. I could now start with my batch adsorption studies as soon as I obtain lead, cadmium, and copper salts.
  5. I am now reading (literally) You’ve Been Warned by James Patterson. In conjunction with rant #1, I think reading novels and watching movies and TV series are the reasons why I fail to summon the will to study.
  6. It feels good to have some time for myself. But I still feel stressed.  So I’m in single-minded pursuit of peace and serenity. Whatever.

  1. Hmm. I think you’ve been inclined to read novels and watch movies/tv series recently because your subconscious tells you that you need to escape from studying/thinking of graduation (it drives me nuts) once in a while. Story of my life. Don’t know if it applies to you as well.
