How I Spent Summer

Vacation is a package deal. You’ll be given tons of time to rest from the pressure of school works and do almost anything you want (remove “almost” if your parents are on vacation too). But at the same time, you’ll have to combat with one of the oldest enemies of mankind: boredom.

It may not sound a deal after all because whether you like it or not, vacation would arrive in the same manner that school time does. It will culminate even without your consent.

For me, it’s ironic. During school time (the long period from June – March), I get tired of my duties and wish that summer vacation would arrive by the speed of light. But during summer vacations, I miss the things I do and wish tomorrow would be June again. I hate being busy the way I hate being bored.

The good thing is that boredom seldom attacked me this particular summer vacation. As much as possible, I tried to keep myself busy by doing anything. I made a list of  those “anything”:

Internet and Online Games. I spent an average of about 2.5 hours a day surfing the net and playing online games. I updated my Friendster account, created an account in Facebook, edited my Multiply site, and maintained my Plurk time line. In addition, I also posted on my old(and third) blog, created a blog (fourth) in Tumblr, and made a new blog (fifth) which is proudly hosted by Dominant Host. Aside from these, I also honed my DOTA Skills and created a Ragnarok account, as suggested by my classmate. Now, I’m a proud Hunter in Ragnarok Online.

Books. A great portion of my time during this break is spent on books. I read different kinds of materials – novels, magazines, newspapers and non-fiction books. The book which I liked the most is The White Rider by Chris Priestley which is  a tale of murder and deception.

Movie Marathon. I also resorted to watching movies this summer. I opted for action movies with a touch of fantasy as I totally kept away from romance films. This is a list of the movies which I remembered that I watched (forgive me, I’m not good at remembering things):

  • Slumdog Millionaire
  • A Nightmare on Elm’s Street
  • A Nightmare on Elm’s Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge
  • A Nightmare on Elm’s Street 3: Dream Warriors
  • A Nightmare on Elm’s Street 4: The Dream Master
  • A Nightmare on Elm’s Street 5: The Dream Child
  • A Nightmare on Elm’s Street 6: Freddy’s Dead
  • A Nightmare on Elm’s Street 7: The New Nightmare
  • X-Men Origins: Wolverine
  • The Spirit
  • Fast and Furious 4
  • Babylon A.D.
  • Angels and Demons
  • Push
  • Underworld
  • Underworld: Evolution
  • Underworld: Rise of the Lycans
  • Dragon Ball Evolution
  • The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Due to what I’ve done this vacation, I’m now a proud owner of 100% much blurred eyes.

This is my summer story. What’s yours?
